It really seems to end quicker than I'd like, which makes it more attractive to the listener than if it kept going on and on.overall a very solid piece to a classic album. The bass line solidifies Dre's attempt at bringing live music into hip hop on this album and it works perfectly. I never really understood the extreme attraction to weed culture but for what it's worth, this spacey jam is awesome. So what's the difference between these rappers and you? Everything. Holy crap.so much energy in his verse and although it isn't directed at anyone in particular it is the greatest diss i have ever heard. But the horn melody is just so good and when you add the lyrics? Forget it. Please excuse my biased review of this song but for whatever reason it's my personal favorite. All contributors lay down good rhymes and although the chorus is tricky to remember, the song is chill enough to listen to anywhere. If you've played GTA San Andreas you will surely hear this and be reminded of the game due to the cool west coast background sounds. Not one of my favorites, but that doesn't mean much on an album so great. Just 5 songs in and i"m already amazed at how unique this album is in a world where hip hop is becoming extremely materialistic and commercialized. Dre delivers even more brilliant lyrics with lines that you will instantly have saved in your memory bank. The instrumentation and beat are spacey and put you in a solemn yet great mood. There is no doubt that this is the best "non hit" track on the album.

Not to mention, the video includes the rarely seen yet somehow very stereotypical car with major hydraulics. Snoop Dogg contributes an extremely smooth set of lines in what i consider the chorus and Dre's verses are superb. It is instantly recognizable within the first half a second and will seem as fresh as the first time you heard it no matter how many times you've listened. I don't in any way agree with what is said in this song but it's seductive instrumentation and provocative lyrics are just too attractive to give it a bad score.Ĭlearly one of the best tracks on the album, "Still D.R.E" reassures us that Dre is still here to make great music, such as this song. It basically sets things straight by saying Dre and company don't fall in love with promiscuous women and even think it's ok to cheat as long as it doesn't involve emotional feelings. This explicit and probably very offensive track begins the sexual aspect of this album. Although just one of many great songs on this album, this opening track is strong enough to be the best track on any other album. The smooth lyrics are set against a relaxed and somewhat sneaky sounding background.

Dre immediately sets the tone for the album, as he describes how both himself and the hip hop culture have changed. Dre, "Chronic 2001" is/was a pioneer for its time and includes background tracks that close to nobody has matched since its release in 1999 (yes that's right, not 2001). The better of the only 2 albums released by Dr. From start to finish, it is the most impressive album I've come across at such a long length. For those who aren't aware, this is considered a hip hop classic, and rightly so.
